why i’m getting out of here
Something I’m working on - freelance - for a company I used to work for:
Ta maman vient aujourd’hui
——————————————————–
Scared, depressed, and unable to communicate with her guardians,
schoolmates or teachers, six-year old Florence had all but given up hope
that she’d ever see her mother or sisters again. A French-Canadian
national with no English-speaking skills, Florence’s long and
frightening journey from Montreal to Miami to Augusta, Georgia began
with a simple invitation to visit her estranged father—and ended with
kidnapping, warrants, and a U.S. Marshall raid. When finally freed,
Florence met her saviors, two (well-known law firm) attorneys passionate
about helping the smallest victims of international kidnapping.
Determined to make the girl feel comfortable and informed, they assured
her, in butchered, broken French, “Ta maman vient aujourd’hui,” “Your
mother is coming today.” The small gesture was all it took to force a
long-absent smile on Florence’s face.
Georgia associate (X) and partner (X) worked
tirelessly on Florence’s behalf from start to finish in this case,
overseeing every minute detail of the incident’s progress and
resolution; from finding the girl, to coordinating with the Canadian
government over prosecution, to flying the mother to the US, and even
providing food, lodging and entertainment for the family during the
hearing. “This case was unlike anything else I’ve done,” X says. “It
wasn’t like I went to a hearing and said my peace and just left. This
was so much more. We did a full service. It was amazing.”
